This is my Thursday February 10th, 2011 edition of “Revenue 2.0 Daily”, with yours truly, Bob Bloom.
I continue with my theme, What I Believe.
I believe that the internet economy is the sweet spot of our economy. And ecommerce is the sweet spot of this sweet spot.
The Census Bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce estimates U.S. retail ecommerce sales for 3Q10 was $41.5b, an increase of 4% from 2Q10. Compared with a 0.8% increase in total retail sales from 2Q10. Total growth 0.8%, ecommerce growth 4%!
Ecommerce sales as a percent of total sales has grown steadily since 2001.
WSJ reports that online sales rose 16% from a year earlier during last November’s “Black Friday”, whereas brick-and-mortar sales increased 0.3% to $10.7 b.
16% vs 0.3% growth – that is incredible!
The internet economy is bustling. And ecommerce is where the action is.
Ecommerce, though, is not just setting up an e-store. It’s just about everything else that involves online revenue. Subscriptions, paid webinars, premium music sites, e-vertising. And on-and-on.
The major implication for freelance consultants: opportunities abound.
Tomorrow, I wrap up this week’s theme, “I Believe”.
This is Bob Bloom, signing off, wishing you a profitable day.
